na daLokal presents photographic works by twelve artists working in the domains of film, performance art, and photography.
At the center of Marco Bolognesi's Humanescape stands the female figure, bound and suffering like a modern Gulliver. Amanda Piña and Magdalena Chowaniec's series of photographs about the New Viennese Bioactionism explore aspects of femininity and biology in the actions held by the Vienna-based group of the 1960s and 1970s. Michikazu Matsune's video piece Girls' Night Out, meanwhile, captures a photo shoot scene: bachelorette party guests in army outfits. Equipped with a stereoscopic viewing device, the installation by Lisa Hinterreithner and Rotraud Kern offers surprising and intimate insight into realities usually considered taboo.
Bernhard Braunstein's film documents the development processes of Polaroid photographs showing pristine landscapes untouched by civilization as well as human "dreamers"; Lucile Chaufour presents a selection from a series about classical motorcycle races: the confrontation between man and machine, the cold concrete wastelands of the racecourses, and the pilots' passion. Extreme physical exertion is also the focus of Daniel Zimmermann's reconstruction, made of 200 strips of wood, of a new climbing route. Stöh Grünig's photographic work guides our civilization to a no man's land between earth and water.
